the wii is just as powerfull as gamecube. they say twice as powerful but thats obviously bull.

the origional xbox is more powerfull than wii.

but what wii has done is tap into a lucritive new market and sell lots. imo there is nothing on the wii shelfs that i would want to play apart from brawl,galaxy,paper mario,zelda and nights.

most games are aimed at mini game crowd and children type games. real console gaming its ps360, but if you like mini game type games and obscure type titles like word coach etc then the wii is the console for you.



...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

That is a highly, highly general comparison.  Do not consider the Wii 3 times as powerful as Xbox or just 1/3rd the power of X360 (or that X360 is 10 times the power of Xbox for that matter).  It is simply a basic visual reference.

 

For those intersted in the jargon and details, you should already have read TheRepublic's post.   The TEV unit is rarely utilized because it requires more effort than simply porting from PS2 or slapping a texture on a poly and calling it a day. 

Super Mario Galaxy used it and was loaded with shader effects all running at 60 fps.  The Conduit is using it.  Take a look at the picture below of The Conduit and notice how many shader effects are applied to the bad guy.  And they have 9 more months of development time to make it even better.

 

wow this game form Wii .. amazing.

It's more powerful. People just refuse to see that because they see the processor speeds and think that's the only measurement. The speed of the Xbox was based on tech from 8 years ago. The power of the Wii is that it has managed to almost sell as much as the PS3 and the 360 combined...with last gen specs. everything else is irrelevant.

 

Motorola game playing cell phones have sold far more then the Wii+360+PS3 combined, with far less powerful specs. Everything else is irrelevant.

See how stupid that sounds?

maybe the Wii have some advanced technology’s thats the first xbox dont have ... for example : advanced shaders.

hmmmm. Looking at the future game of Conduit (which I will probably buy) I see the Wii utilizing everything that it has to its full potential. I truly believe the Wii is capable of delivering some incredible work. Mario Galaxy was superb. Conduit looks promising. Conduit kinda looks like Halo. jejejej

No it's not.  He makes two major mistakes.

1. His assertion of the Wii's capabilties.  I think we've established that issue well enough already.

2. His assertion of what real console gaming is.  What is real console gaming?  What he should have stated instead is the games largely do not appeal to him.   The difference in Halo and Garnival Games as a video game is null.  When you assume they hold separate qualifications as a video game is the same as assuming a sports car is more of a real vehicle than a truck.  Separate consumer markets, seperate characteristics, seperate prices but both are still very much a real vehicle.

How powerful is the Wii? Right now, it (along with the DS) is the powerful name in gaming.
