Because PS2 DOMINATION is obvious, and isn`t interesting to people anymore. =)

Also PS2 would make new gen console sales to look pity. =))

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

no, 'cuz as some people have said its info is still available...
plus it isn't current-gen

same thing happened in 4th/5th gen era...
they were only counting N64 and PS1 sales
when technically in the beginning of 5th gen it was SNES+N64 vs PS1 sales (vs SEGA)

though i wouldn't care... considering how unbelievable their sales are and the fact they are practically competing w/ 7th-gen consoles

I don't want the PS2 to be on the charts for as long as this generation, but just until it's discontinued and not selling anymore, is when it should get pulled off the charts

How so? 

Weekly PS2 sales are dead last so it can't be weekly sales you're talking about.

LTD sales PS2 >>>>> everything else but considering that it had a 6 year head start it's nothing to brag about.  Sony fans have been enjoying PS3 sales lately over 360 sales even though 360 still has a LTD advantage due to the earlier launch.

And if you want to consider similar timelines the Wii is knocking the PS2 around, with or without considering the staggered launches that the PS2 had.

I thought the PS3 was selling like the PS2.
