Forums - Sony - New PS3-mote controller pictured

Source

In Europe, we may have only just got our hands on the PS3's motion-sensing DualShock 3, but multiple sources believe that Sony aren't about to rest on their laurels, but will be announcing a new remote motion-sensing controller, similar to the Wii-mote, at E3 later this month.

Electric Pig has unearthed what it believes is the first picture of the new controller, which was apparently spotted on a manufacturer's website, who refer to it as ""PS3 2.4 GHz Wireless Handgun". As you can see it is docked in a gun accessory.

With rumours that the new controller was focus-tested earlier on this year, it makes perfect sense that Sony will reveal the controller during its keynote speech next week.

If not, then Microsoft may just beat them to it. The Xbox 360 manufacturer is also rumoured to be prepping a motion-sensing controller. A leaked list of features for the Xbox 360 dashboard update, which is expected soon, states the addition of "Calibration options for motion sensor devices".

Nintendo's Wii-mote is great, but we can't wait to see what developers can really do with remote motion-sensing peripherals on the HD-capable Xbox 360 and PS3. Good times.

Yeah, I hope not.

I still think that if the PS360 builds their own wii-motes it will just be failures for them at this point. As an addon it just won't sell well and devs aren't going to make two internal versions of controls for all PS360 games just for the very small percentage of PS360 users who will buy them.

They really need to leave these in R&D until next gen.

the part without the gun has been a photoshop image going around for a year now, just a modification of that image. Sony and MS cannot create a remote based motion sensing controller without violating Nintendo's patent, which would be an economic disaster for either Sony or MS.

I don't really want any of these things for my PS360, unless I can use them with the Force Unleashed.... that is the ultimate use for one of these

PS3 doesn't use wireless via frequency. It's not a cordless phone, for god's sake.

It uses bluetooth

Looks pretty fake to me

hahaha, I didn't actually read the whole article. I just looked at the pic. Yeah, that definitely pushed it much closer to the fake department.

sony isn't that dumb. Even if it worked like a dream and was perfect, they would not make it look like a gun (color wise and all) the media would have a hay day (as they say) with this news if it happened.

And sony would be thought of as horrible and teaching kids to shoot people and what not.

So if the article is to be believed, Sony is planning on making the Perfect Shot.

God I hope this is fake.

i hope SONY doesn't make a motion sensor controller like wii

Bluetooth is on 2.4GHz too.

I really hope that isn't a new controller, I hate waggle games. An addon controller, no matter how good won't make any difference at this point.

For waggle to matter, it needs to be the standard for the unit.

damn, 2.4 ghz wireless handgun. Even my phone has 5.8 ghz, ur slacking Sony :P
