Forums - Nintendo - Should the wii have bundled wii sports with the system?

Me personally, I think that wii sports is a mediocre/below average game...If Ninty would have bundled another game, what would you have liked it to be? IMO SSMB!!

Wii without Wii Sports is like a Grilled Cheese sandwich without the cheese.

I don't think any other game could of pulled in the same diversed demographics of players. No other game would of made grandma and grandpa purchase a Wii for their 6 year old grandson. No other game would of gotten mothers and fathers to play with their teens. No other game would of let gamers sucker their girlfriends into buying them a console "come on babe, we'll play bowling together every night!"

If Nintendo would have bundled SSBB with the Wii, the Wii would have failed. They would have been better off bundling Wii-Play with the console than a hardcore fighter than is niche as hell outside of the Nintendo fanbase.

We're talking blue ocean. That means people who don't usually buy consoles, needed to buy this. Bundling Wii sports with the console is the main reason it took off. If you don't understand that, then that's not the only think you don't understand about this generation, I guarntee you that. Basics.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Bundling Wii Sports with the Wii was the best move the industry has seen since Sony's "$299" press conference.

Bundling Wii Sports was a smart move for Nintendo. It made sure the Wii came with a game for one. Second, it was game that perfectly showcased the controls of the system. I love Wii Sports especially the bowling. If you don't like it...everyone has an opinion.

Without WiiSports, I wouldn't have purchased a Wii.

It was going over to someone's house and bowling with a bunch of other people that gave me my first experience.

There are a lot of great Wii games that I wouldn't pull out in a party.

Now Playing: Pikmin, Super Mario Galaxy 2

The point wasn't to package a great, epic game, but to package a great, fun demo of what the system can do from a gameplay standpoint. From this perspective, it was a great decision and helped the Wii go 'Viral'.

I know I'm still going to be playing Wii Sports 5 years from now - even though I've got a load of other games, that's the one my mates want to play when they come round for a few beers. Our 6 hour bowling marathons are the stuff of legend...

what game would SSMB, be?

I think it is a good idea, because it the type of game that hooks people in
