If being cheep is the real issue here then by your logic the GC slhould have sold better than the Xbox or PS2? :)
Another point...
Unless its something I have missed, NO PS3 game released to date will have rumble implemented within the code. So even when you do upgrade to new controllers, its only the latest games (with the new SDK?) that will support rumble.
I hope Sony have updated the SDK sent out to all developers by now, or every PS3 title out for Xmas will also be missing rumble...
Maybe they just don't care. I still can't believe this happened in the first place...
Gesta Non Verba
Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:
Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099
I'm sure they'll have patches for pre-existing games.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
@ XEBTIY
I have been advocating the idea of a switch to easily turn off rumble in the past, a PS3 system setting dealing with the issue would be nice as well. I don't like to go through the menus for every game I play to turn this off, with the current Sixaxis I simply don't have to deal with it.
I like the lightweight controller the Sixaxis is, some are of the opinion this makes the Sixaxis feel cheap, but I don't share this opinion. My cordless keyboard is also pretty lightweight.
Rumble would be a waste of battery life and most often a distraction for me (other uses than gun vibration). I would rather have real force feedback optional, meaning to me that the sticks would somehow have the ability to provide some resistance, for example while walking against a snow storm.

Price is a major factor, would the Wii be sold at the same price as a PS3 I think PS3 sales would win hands down.
I can only speak for myself, I owned a N64 just for Mario64 and I actually prefer cartidges if they would actually allow for enough storage. Having said that I was really dissapointed that IMO none of the newer N64 games ever matched Mario64 in quality and the same goes for the GameCube, I skipped last gen entirely, I only recently started to buy PS2 games for my PS3, today I bought Ape Escape 3 as my girlfriend has nearly completed Ape Escape 2 . I also thought the "lunchbox" GameCube console was rather ugly and unhandy for putting in discs. The PS3's slotdrive located in the front much better suits my media cabinet.
With regard to MGS 3 and the usefulness of rumble in that game, I have never played that game. I know it's a major title, but it's not on my top 10 PS3 wishlist, neither are the upcoming Final Fantasy games. I am mostly looking forward to Lair, Killzone and Rachtet and Clank. Other than for Killzone I don't see much use for rumble and if overused for anything other than gun vibration I would likely find this feature to be irritating.
| Blue3 said: some of you arenuts, recall of free trade ins lol. So should they do the same for a bigger hdd PS3 or one with smaller chips thus using less power ? the only people whining about rumble are a xbots and wii fanboys, go on ps3 forums just about all really don't care about it enough to complain. If a controller comes with rumble they will just buy a second one, thats it. I'am already on my 2nd controller (temper) |
Why would we? We have rumble.
On Topic:
The problem is Sony thought that they could just say "RUMBLE IS LAST-GEN! cause Sony says so" and the whole world would follow but it didn't happen like that.

I disagree Mike. If the PS3 cost as much as the Wii it would have to have several features stripped from it and it chipset would be much weaker. If the Wii was the same price as the PS3 it would comparable in power and most likely have an HD-DVD based medium. Their is a difference in price for a reason. Whether is be PS3, 360, or Wii each systems cost is directly connected to each companies design philosphy. It is why the "what if x console cost as much as y console argument" is a useless one.
