Forums - Nintendo - Do you think Kid Icarus should be Metroid Prime?

Star Fox 64. Angel Flight-Sim FTW! XD

jk

I wasn't a fan of the original--I hope they make it like a Grecian-themed Zelda adventure.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Majora's Mask wants you to play it again.

Never played it (I don't like Zelda). Explain.

It's pretty much the only Zelda game to have dark and adult themes. It's something you need to play to understand.

What? How could you like metroid prime, but not zelda? They are very similar Action-Adventure games. Anyway Majora's Mask had a dark theme so that is where he is getting at. You said it is a nintendo game so it shouldn't have a dark theme.

@Tehsage Majora's Mask has tons of children, including link,  so I don't think you should be saying "adult". Also TP has dark themes, and I would say it is far more dark, and majora's mask was far more depressing.

Im expecting Zelda but more adventure, less talky talky. Yea and would be nice to get some demon / medussa / evil psycho / heaven hell stuff.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Honestly, as much as this may make me sound strange, how I would produce Kid Icarus is to cross the platforming elements of the Banjo-Kazooie games with the combat and puzzle solving elements of The Legend of Zelda.

Your avatar tells me you survived more gaming hells.

Great game though, but NES style unforgiving.

I don't know. I just don't like the feel of Zelda. It's probably in part due to the dark themes and the vulnerability. I recoggnise their quality though; I have bought but only partially played LttP, OoT, WW and TP.

What I mean by vulnerability is that in Zelda dungeons, you don't feel 'safe' and you feel 'lost'. That turns me off these games for some reason. It's hard to feel vulnerable in a Power Suit with sci-fi beam weapons and missiles (Metroid) or when your opponents are cute and non-threatening (Mario, Pokemon, Advance Wars).

Kid Icarus won't be a bad game if it was dark and cinematic; it just wouldn't be a Nintendo game in my opinion and I, a 'core Nintendo fan' by most standards, wouldn't buy it. I assumed my position was typical of fans - this may not be the case/

?? A platformer/ action-adventure is an answer to GoW, a hack and slash? Maybe since their settings are similar, but that is about it.

I think there will be darker themes in the new Kid Icarus game... just because Nintendo has said they were committed to bringing in more "core" games and the original KI was so long ago.. its fans are adults now.

As for the style, I think the Pit and KI stage from Brawl would be perfect.. hopefully the style won't be like the concept drawings we saw earlier this year.
