I've been on/lurking this site for over a year now and I have noticed that the majority of topics that make it to page 2 are threads that either Flame on the consoles, or turn into flame wars on the consoles. Why is that?
I know this is a sales site so that could explain some of it, but then threads pop up all the time complaining about the flamebait. Hell sometimes I log on here and the same people have posted 5 or 6 flame threads at once and they are loated as being super cool users of the site. I personally don't think that these threads add anything other than foul language, personal attacks and ban bait. They are not productive, the fact that they garner the most attention is troubling. Even if people post in them to discourage the practice it encourages the creator to make more threads because each post gives him more VG$.
There is something seriously wrong when a thread bashing a console or a thread discussing a particular games sales gets turned into a flame war recieves 7 or 8 pages within hours, but a thread that contributes to the site such as the prediction leauge topics, game information, an unbiased review of a game or good deals on a game won't even make it past the first page.
I don't think all the flaming lends the best image to the site.
