Forums - Nintendo - what do you think was a bigger risk for nintendo:DS or Wii

DS of course. I mean Wii was hardly a risk. They were at the bottom anyways. Only way left to go is up.

DS was used in a market that they had completely dominance of brand. I mean the gameboy brand was completely dominant and nothing could compete with it. And they completely throw it away and say hey we are trying something new. That takes ballz. And man did it pay off, because DS will sell well more than GBA or original GB. Give credit where it's due.

^but in wiis case if it failed they probably wouldnt have made another console

Oh sure they would have. Because if they didn't go the Wii route they'd have had about the same success as the GC, which was 3rd place but profits. It would take a lot to knock Nintendo out.

^but if wii failed they might not have made any profits

^ yes, but if wii failled they would still be in a good shape thanks to ds, but if ds failed at launch nintendo would have been bankrupt or close to it

^ if the risk of releasing ds failed, they wouldn't take another huge risk.
