Forums - Nintendo - How's MP3 for people who didn't finish the 1st 2?

Didn't play the first two but loved the third anyway.

It's kind off important to know about Phazon if you want to understand what the big deal is in Metroid Prime

you do not need to play the first 2 to enjoy prime 3 but i still highly recommend you play all 3 games they are masterpeices

i HAd the 1st 2 prime games, didnt finish Prime be4cause of those damn artifacts, and Prime 2 was kind of boring and the ammo thing kind of killed it for me. Prime 3 is great though.

I've been replaying Prime 3 the past few days and it just reminded me how awesome the game is. Replaying it made me all Metroid-crazy, so I decided to buy Super Metroid.

Anyway, there isn't much of a real story in the first two games, although there is quite a bit of information about the planets and and their history (which is very intriguing) when you scan for lore and other stuff.

All you need to know is that in the first game, Phazon was introduced. Metroid Prime is the last boss (duh) and when you beat it, Dark Samus is born. Then in Prime 2, like some one else said, all you need to know is that Dark Samus is evil and you gotta kill the bitch.

Prime 3 is more interesting. Since it's the last in the trilogy you're going to be looking for a way to end all the craziness!

Buy the game!

If you own a Wii, and have not played Metroid Prime 1 /2, do yourself a favor and try and buy them.

Metroid Prime wasn't the highest rated game of last generation for no reason =)

I just wanna chime in here to everyone who may be reading this. If you haven't played Metroid Prime 1 or 2; do yourselves a favor and pick them up from Ebay or something. Don't be put off by the controls, which by the way are amazing, Samus is as responsive as Mario in a platformer; how they did this in a First Person game I don't know.

Of course Wiimote pointing in MP3 is amazing, but frankly, the series doesn't need it, it's just neat. All you are missing in MP1 and 2 is that you can't aim while moving, which you don't need to because of lock-on (which you _can_ do while moving).

Metroid Prime was the best game of the last generation; and Metroid Prime 2 is close behind - the boss fights are much cooler (and some would say harder) in MP2, and it has some really cool morphball puzzles.

Metroid Prime 3 has the best controls, but I like both 1 and 2 better in terms of immersion, the mood (you don't feel that solitude in MP3), and puzzles. Also, I didn't like all the travelling between planets in MP3, it's much more interesting to explore one interconnected world; that's what Metroid is about!

The Metroid Prime trilogy to me is the games of recent years that stand out the most to me, and in fact, I just started replaying Metroid Prime yesterday, after playing through Super Metroid on VC (which everyone should also get, of course). And it still feels good, the controls were only awkward for like 2 minutes (Metroid Prime 3-itis), then they felt natural once again.

I can hardly wait to see what Retro Studios will cook up next :)
