for Microsoft to win.

they have to win the US market by a large margin (say... 65% of total console sold)

they will have to win European market (at least 45%)

and they will have to be competitive in Japan (say.. at least 30%)

so if you look at this. It's "No", "No" and "HELL NO"

never going to happen.

well, they started as # 1 and kept it for months, that's something.



Their image in Europe and their non existence in Japan will always prevent them from the top spot. However, they will continue to profit if they keep their NA momentum.

Do I think Microsoft has a chance to win a generation? Sure, why not. Microsoft has learned alot over the years and also created some very nice innovations such as LIVE. Microsoft has the best library right now, a comfortable controller.

If Microsoft can learn from past mistakes, (RROD mainly, balance out more between audiences like hardcore and casual, etc) use the 360 to get the Japanese on board with more RPG's and such and I honestly believe Microsoft can be a force to be reckon with next time around.

You should never say never but i heardly think so, first of all they must convince the japanes people to buy their console instead of sonys and nintendos.

I doubt it simply because I've seen no evidence they know how to get a console into the hands of general gamers.

They obviously have a chance, but on the evidence its a slim chance IMHO.

 They only had their lead until Wii launched - once its rate of sale was evident the 360 was already the loser.

highly unlikely, the 360 was there chance to do this and it didnt work
If
360 had motionsense from launch in 2005 (year before PS3/Wii)
and Gears of War/Halo 3 were in the launch line up
then they could have done it this time, now its hard to see it
