boooring. Looks like a generic jrpg.

Main characters are teenagers? check.

Overload of custscenes? check.

I've been waiting ages for a decent, mature JRPG, and I thought Infinite Undiscovery was it, but unfortunately it looks generic.

We don't even know the actual age of the characters. Of course there is a lot of cutscenes, JRPGs are often among the most story-heavy games. We aren't sure of the story yet but we know the gameplay is different from typical JRPGs. IU is not as generic as you think.

EDIT:We did get a decent, mature JRPG in the form of Lost Odyssey

How is lost odissey mature? I'm not saying being mature is directly related to the artstyle, though LO's artstyle and choice of characterization is several times better than any jrpg of the last 5 years.

I was looking forward to IU because it's supposed to have atleast a bit of choice/consequence involved that directly affects the story, which 99% of jrpgs don't. But ugh, the artstyle is just so generic. Why do japanese developers always fucking choose teens as main characters??

Actually LO had some interesting ideas about immortality and the toll it takes on the mind. There was a lot of ideas in the game, you just had to read them.

The art direction is not generic.  It is actually very good.  The reason why Japanese developers choose teens as main characters is to appeal to the Japanese audience

It's generic, hundreds of jrpgs already used the same types of artstyles, character models and setting of IU.

And both the japanese developers and audience are shooting themselves in the foot if they don't allow for creativity, or atleast some more variety, to take place  in their rpgs. That's one of the reasons why Western developers are far better at making RPGs.

Anachronox, a console-type RPG for PC (which had more creativity and quality than almost every single jRPG) beat them in their own field.

why does it both graphically and combat wise similar to PSP's Crisis Core?

This is next gen console we are talking about here. Some seriously bad texture I'm looking at here.. (first scene, look at the bricks on the jail cell wall there)

You call yourself a JRPG fan. Yet every time you enter a thread with a 360 JRPG you slag it down. You havent even played any 360 JRPG's. Wait you probably havent played any HD gen JRPG's cause you have a PS3. You only like FF, I wonder why that is.

Really??? have I "slag down" Tales game??? Or SC4?? or for that matter, LO? Time to get your Microsoft fanboy glasses off.

Defending a game that looks obviously weak JUST because it's on your console.

Heck, I still played the best JRPG this year. Crisis Core, what have you played? ;)

GoW2 ( expect 7 - 9 million entire life and over 2 mill first day), Fable 2 (expect 5-6 million entire life and 1.5 mill fist day) BK3 (expect 4 - 5 mill sales entire life and 1 mill first day).. Tales/IU/TLR should get to 2 or 3 million! post id: 868878
Episode 2:
Letsdance: FFXIII (PS3+360) first week in NA = 286K
According to pre-order rate in week 13 (post id: 2902544)

grafix dont look very good. combat looks ok though.

im not expecting a world beater, but rpg are all about the story when you play through it and this game could turn out decent.

animations are a bit off, but i can see this selling as much as lost oddesee if its bundled and heavily promoted.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I'm sorry I fell off my chair. Yeah my brother got Crisis Core, it's ok. But LO is the best RPG I've played since FF7. LO is the best this year by quite a way. If you havent played it you cant comment. Ive played about 8 hours of Crisis core. My brother has nearly finished it.
