Forums - Website Topics - Gamespot takes a shot at VGChartz.

Gamespot has never really been credible and most other sites congratulate VGChartz for its numbers, so they are just BS trying to save their own site and (non - existent) credibility.

End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)

PlayStation 4: 12-15million

Xbox One: 7-10 million

Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)

Didn't Gamespot have no trouble using Vgchartz in 2006 when our numbers were considered even more suspect?

Criticism is fine but you have to be consistent. The numbers on VGC in 2008 sure as hell aren't worse than they were in 2006 I can tell you that much.

They are probably a little bit confused after they became the laughing stock of gaming websites (at least among people who know about what they did).

what did they do? I seem to recall something, but I can;t remember what....

OT: Success breeds jealousy. Once you get big enough for people to notice you (and you're a free, different, open site trying to do a good thing), they start to get uneasy. GREAT JOB BRETT!!!!!!!

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

I appreciate what VGChartz stands for and does, and Brett is one of the most kickass people in this world.

It seems like some people are just jealous of all the attention and traffic this site is getting. It shows a lot about those people when they let their jealousy take control of them.

The fact that VGChartz DOES change it's numbers if they are off is a good thing. How are we supposed to get closer to the truth if we don't take knowledge and grow from it?

 Who's Brett?

Brett Walton?

ioi?

The man who created this site? :P

Gamespot plans on releasing an April Fool's Joke about VGChartz.

I can't see how changing your data to make it more accurate is a bad thing?

Brett has never denied that NPD is usually more accurate than VGC just they release far less data.

They're just trying to do what seems to be a common trend - Bash VGChartz and attract Neo-GAFfers. I Could care less. After the whole Kayne and Lynch Fiasco, what they say doesn't even matter anymore.

It just seems like lately, Gamespot is trying to find any way they can to still appear relevant. I never trusted their reviews much, but I used to enjoy going there for news stories. Just lately, there's so much corporate taint rearing it's ugly head, that when you combine that with the all new levels of strange fan-like bias, it becomes almost impossible to care about them anymore.

*scratches head* Bad publicity is still publicity.. right?

That article pointed the finger at vgc which basically gets anyone who didn't know about this site who read that article to check out this site.

Took me until sometime in near mid 2007 to find out where kotaku got their numbers, when at some point the mentioned vgc aside from just npd and/or enterbrain.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.
