Asus is one of the better brands. I am a computer technician and I see more HP's and Dell's and Compaq's than I care to. If your not needing a gaming laptop, Toshiba or Lenovo make some solid products.

I'll be chirping gears and pulling brodies.

Thanks for all the contributions people.

I heard good things about all brands, but bad about most of them too. Glad I asked for advice here, I was so close to buy a HP.

I think I'll go for a Dell or Toshiba or Asus. The Macbook pro and Sony vaio are really sexy tough, but a bit pricy.

hp and dell makes the most affordable laptop

1. hp has better design and much better warranty.
2. Dell has better customer service if you purchase the XPS line of laptop.
