I see many people saying that, be it early next year or by the end of next year, no later than that....but do you think this will really be the case?

Sure, a lot of things could happen to either system to greatly affect sales, positively or negatively....but just taking a guess along with some logic and reason, what would you say?

Its possible, not likely.

My prediction that it will infact pass it by the end of the year.

Though there are huge errors in that prediction. A price cut can definately slow down the PS3 from outselling the 360's LTD sales, heck it can even widen the gap.

Sony needs the games, and a price cut, if they ever want to be #1, its still not impossible.

Sony has what? 8 more years to implement its strategy for the PS3? I think demanding that the Xbox360 be passed this year forgets the long term implications of such a move. In a long term race such as this, strategy is important. I would pick that to pass the Xbox360 unnaturally quickly late this year or early next year would potentially kill the PS3 profitability and maybe even their games division. They DO NOT want to fight Microsoft in a price war.

Value is the key ingredient in the PS3, as time goes by that value increases. Blu ray, games, and potential new markets as well. Its not something to rush.

Well, sales rate shows that (if continued at the same pace), the PS3 should pass the 360 in 1-2 years.

This of course does not take in to consideration price cuts, game boosts and Christmas.

I expect sometime late next year.

I think the US 360 pricedrop that will occur sometime this year will keep in from happening. I think the PS3 picking up 2nd place in 2010 is much more likely.

It won't happen in 2009. The PS3 would need to outsell the X360 by 50,000 units per week on average (and even more during the holiday seasons), and that won't happen.

 Yes, it's pretty much exactly 50K. But MGS4 is now released and it did almost nuffin. What's more important is that the X360 has bigger price dropping potential than the PS3.
