Sonic & The Secret Rings was pretty impressive for an early title, so i have faith that they are going to outdo it in the Wii version. You know that the 360 & PS3 versions are going to look better, but wait for some comparison pics off the same quality. Still, if it looks better than Secret Rings, i'll say they 've done a good job.

The jaggies aren't going to magically disappear when the screenshots get on IGN.

Then they could use AA. Jagies are the least to worry about when developing a game. They most likely will implement that last. Also I don't believe its at it's native resolution so that could show the less obvious jaggies too.

It doesn't require magic. When a screen is shown at a higher than actual resolution it causes "jaggies." IGN screens would be at the native resolution and thus have few jaggies.

If the game is good it will sell very well on the XBOX 360 and PS3.

Yeah but sega games sell better on the wii. And some people will just buy it because they like mario vs sonic.
I was expected some more classic 2D gameplay for the Wii version as was suggested by the first rumors on the game. I'm very disappointed it looks like another 3D Sonic game.
As suggested by people in the Megaman 9 thread, Sega should really bring a Sonic the Hedgehog 4 with "16-bit graphics" and proper 2D gameplay. That I would be hyped about and buy on day one.

Alrighty then.
But when the IGN screenshots come in and show the same thing (general lack of detail, and graphical prowess), can I talk about it then?
Well, clearly I'll win my bet, but nevertheless I don't see anything wrong with these scans. They are artificially enlarged to fit in Nintendo Power (creating more aliasing) and even with that the actual graphics (ignoring the distortion caused by the scan) are reasonably good... the game has very little detail in the environments on the HD systems as well.
Given that the Wii version is being made by Dimps, the only good Sonic developer, and the 360 and PS3 versions by Sonic Team, one of the worst development teams in existence, I'm not too worried. Especially since the Wii version is supposed to have much more focus on 2D gameplay than its HD counterpart.
