Forums - Microsoft - Microsofts own response to HOME : Mygamerpad?

no offense but to me home and if microsoft does a copy are fail.

Why?

because it will create a virtual world of people who have no life. Wow is a prime example of this. I've lost two good mates to the game. That is all they have been doing since it has be released.

People need to just step back from virtual worlds and go and hang out with their real mates.

hilarious if true

@starcraft stop bashing whatever isnt on your console

Read the thread.  I'm bashing the idea, regardless of what console it is on.

You may apologize now.

regardless if it was this post, i almost always see something negative about sony in your writing.

If you feel that way, PM the mods detailing you're grievances.

On this occasion however, you were clearly wrong, and simply wished to attack me.

The next time it happens, I'll report it instead of giving you a chance to apologize and retract, something you have STILL failed to to.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I think the idea of Home stinks and MS ripping it off would stink even more...

It's a glorified substitute for messenger on your TV.

microsoft should be more original.

                             End of 2008 Sales:

               Wii- 39 Million 360- 25Million PS3- 22 Million

                          PSN: papasmurf5721

All the people using those applications will have a reason to *gasp* keep using them.  All of those applications are accesible from the computer with the push of a button and have a mouse/keyboard as their default interface tool.

You don't succeed just by copying someone else that is successful; you must improve/innovate as well or no one will use your service in lieu of the alternatives they are already using.  The fact that there are so many alternatives which fulfill several functionalities Home will attempt to is actually really bad for Home.

As you yourself said, they have improved and offer more then what the others are putting on offer at the moment. There are 13million ps3 users to date. everyone of these will have this feature for free. In essence they already have a userbase of 13million not to forget, unlike the 360, they online offering is for free.

keyboard and mouse have never been an issue, my friend is constantly messing about with the linux OS on the ps3, he uses a standard plug and play mouse and what you forget is, a lot of these people using the applications they are have come from using a previous application. e.g.

1) it started with excite chat a logn long time ago and other online communities then they moved to:

2) Microsoft chat rooms, which were closed down and then new applications were put on offer so they moved to:

3) Hi5, which was awesome again but eventually people got bored and moved on to the likes of:

4) wayne and bebo but soon they got bored and moved on to:

5) facebook and soon they may get bored again and move on again

(dont need to gasp) the bottom line is people get bored and they move on. Like you said innovation is something that keeps people coming back. Unlike these internet application, Home will be a living 3d community with constant changes and additions and far more visual splendor then any of the online applications along with the ability to play decent games online, converse etc It will be almost like a free never ending video game and i wouldnt put it past sony to implement the rpg style achievement system to PS Home. Home has infinite potential and if Sony keep up the upgrades and extra content they are putting up at the moment, Home will be a Uber success.

wow...... thats REALLY lame.................Like.....Really.................lame...

So what's the point of this and Sonys Home??

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Who gives a shit, as long as I can still play the amazing games that the 360 has to offer. This is for people who are into Second Life and shit. M$ is also offering plenty of new features with their service.

"My gamer pad." If this is true and MS wants to shake off the hardcore nerdy gamer tag associated with 360 then I can't see this as helping one bit.

I believe this was debunked as a bad Photoshop job on G4 about a week ago. But I do think it's a bit ridiculous that MS is still getting ripped on for it. The MS hate gets really out of hand sometimes, especially when it is directed at things that have nothing to do with MS.

You can hate the company all you want, but Sony is just as shrewd. They are both very successful companies and they both got to where they were for a reason. If some of you Monday morning quarterbacks actually knew what you were talking about, you'd have large successful companies too. But you don't.
