@ profcrab, do you not have a spare controller?

Nope.  All the games I've played, or want to play so far, on the PS3 have all been single player or online.  No reason to buy a second controller.  Although, I am close to buying a DualShock3.  Unfortunately, when the controller is running low, that gives me the choice between the controller I detest, the Sixaxis, and the controller that is at least the same as the DS2, and has rumble (I like rumble).  That is kinda like the old N64 days when no one wanted to be stuck with the aftermarket controllers when playing GoldenEye.

I give that question a 9.8.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

Dreaming for the future is a mistake. Play for the present, and when games come out, get excited about them then.

I don't quite agree, IMO it's usually better to look at the long term. Nomatter if you buy a house, change jobs, go to university or get into a relationship.

For example if you really want to play Final Fantasy XIII, then weigh it in your decision. If you think you will enjoy Playstation Home, investigate what is currently shown and what kind of features to expect, etc, etc.

IMO look at present and future.

So what do these things, which are life setting issues, have to do with buying a toy? If you want a toy now, buy it. If you decide you want the other toy later, buy it too. Don't get me wrong, the PS3 is a fine toy, but I'm not going to buy it now because Final Fantasy 13 is due late in 2009 or maybe 2010. That's just silly.

It's not like you can just get a second wife because something changed. You're comparing static and primarily one-time things to toys. And it doesn't make any sense at all. You don't have to plan for the future when you're buying an inexpensive toy.

You don't have to waste time trying to guess the future with consoles.  Buy the one that has what you want now.  If another one has what you want in the future, you can get it then.  It will be cheaper anyway.  I feel like you approach this as if you are chosing a side.  I hate Microsoft and Sony about equally for an about equal amount of evil, but I didn't factor that into my console buying decision.

I don't see why people dislike how the DS3/sixaxis handles batteries. I just plug it into my computer when I am done playing. Never have to worry about buying batteries or making sure I have another set charged.

I think it s quiet normal to defend a product you have purchased be it a television or gaming console.

That is why you will never get an honest opinion from anybody who owns just a ps3 or a 360. Having read a few threads from members who now have both, I have come to the conclusion that they are both great systems with their own pros and cons.

I am personally very happy with my 360 and I imagine having now purchased your own 360 you will have double the fun us single console owners have.

I think it's something for many to take into consideration. FFX XIII developement has BTW been put on the fast track.

So you want to use PlayTV? Do you want to put a 400GB harddrive in your console next year? Will you buy a HDTV in the near future, all potential factors to take into consideration.

You don't have to plan for the future when you're buying an inexpensive toy.

To many the PS3 or 360 and the games aren't inexpensive. Price cuts usually have a major effect on sales.

You don't have to waste time trying to guess the future with consoles.

People do and will continue to do so. Many people bought an Amiga at the time the Atari ST was cheaper and despite early games were on par or even slightly inferior.

Some people I know bought Elite systems instead of another Premium in the hope it wouldn't fail in the future, etc, etc.

Buy the one that has what you want now. If another one has what you want in the future, you can get it then. It will be cheaper anyway. I feel like you approach this as if you are chosing a side. Sure you can buy what you want now. That's why I said IMO it's best to look at the present as well as the future. If you want Halo 3 now then get a 360, however if it's not that important and you think Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 are probably more your type of game and you want a Blu-Ray player anyhow, this can also be factors to take into consideration.

IMO you should keep more an open mind with regard what's the right thing to do for people in general.

I have tried to use the ps3 controller, the only flaw are the R2 and L2 triggers.
They just don't feel good, I always felt like my fingers were going to slip off them. Whereas the 360 triggers are just so natural.
overall though, the controllers this gen are so much better than the old ps2, gamecube, and first xbox controllers (even the s-controller).

^^I agree. The PS3 controllers are good but I don't care for R2 and L2 triggers. I haven't played a game that utilized the motion stuff either.
