The Legend of Zelda. There's no bad Zelda game (imo anyways) and it's always a system seller. Many people I know buy Nintendo console just for that series.
It is legendary... Epic! Full of action, big bosses, many items to find and use... No need to say more... Most people know the games.
It is the best overall series to me.

I can't think of a single sries that has innovated and excelled for so long and as consistantly as the Mario series. And even it's spin off titles tend to be a cut above the spin offs of most franchises.

I want to say X-Com if you only count the FIRST one and forget the rest came out...
Xenogears was amazing, but its a one shot...
I think Im going with Civilization.
I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.
