this question also applies to sony not selling the 80gb for a couple months. Was this all to build demand from consumers? Like nintendo is doing with the wii.

I dont think thats the case, though it might be.

I believe that sony used the left over PS3's at there warehouse (80gb) and bundled them with MGS4 for the $499.99 price.

Maybe they will start making them again after seeing such high demand for the system.

I don't know Sony's strategy, but Nintendo's isn't artificial to be sure. There is demand and they can't meet it.

No, I think it's clear they wanted to drain out the sixaxis + motorstorm package, to bring on the MGS4 + dualschock. If they are side-by-side in a store, they would never get rid of the Motorstorm one.

Nintendo isn't only doing this with Wii

they did it with DS, they did it with Wiifit, heck, they even did it with SSBB.

I don't think Sony has the right to do that. They are just trying to ship as many as they can.

All I hope for is that they realize that this bundle gets Sony where they want to be, in the living room.

If they would scrap every version and only sell a 80GB version, they would sell very well.

There's no such thing as "creating" demand by limiting your supply. Please people, stop and think for a while.

I think the OP ment Sony saying that they are only doing so many 80gig ps3. if sony said they would be doing them for the rest of the year then people would not be in such a rush to get them, because they know that they can get then any time they want
