So MGS4 sold 476k s/w and 77k h/w opening week in Japan, which is an anomaly in the established pattern of PS3 game sales compared to their PS2 counterpart. First week sales of MGS4 are right in line with previous MGS titles.
So first week Japan sales. I was originally predicting 1.2 mil. software and 120k hardware for that week. However, I will have to up it a bit. Here it is and I will stick with this until launch date (bookmark this thread as well).
S/W: 1.6 million
H/W: 160k (if no slim-line launched), 240k (if slim-line launched).
Most FFs began with around 2 mil. at launch in Japan. The PS2 / PS1 had 5 million install base when launched. However, I expect the attach rate to be abnormally high for the PS3 (much like MGS4), because the PS3 is the second place console there. It's obvious many are buying for MGS and FF solely.
