The PS3 instal base by it's release will be around 4.5 million (Hopefully).
With that said, I'm thinking that the PS3's wont see some 2000% increase in a week like the OP suggests. I see FF13 selling amazingly well - similar to monster hunter 2G no but maybe around 80% of MH2G, this is behind the logic that Japan has a higher acceptance rate for handhelds over consoles. (That's the talking point recently.) How big time will tell when Monster Hunter 3 appears on the Wii. However their wont be even a 400% (or a jump to roughly 40,000 units)
MGS4 hardly flinched the demand in that area so this thread really had no point about being in Japan, as MGS had more of an effect in the US on hardware.
Actually I don't even believe it did, I'm still standing by Sony artificially creating demand, by taking away the only model of the S3 that can play Ps2 games. In otherwords I'm in the belief that the nature of the sales is skewed but the fact is the numbers are still there.
