Bitmap Frogs said: reply just for albi because it's getting interesting: you are right, watching movies on a 2-3" doesn't make sense, but tests have shown people do like mobile tv, but they like news, sports and music - so there's demand for mobile content, it's just a diferent demand. |
That's true, but so far of this remaining contents, excluding movies, most people showed will to pay only for sports, perhaps news as a bonus channel given away with premium channels, like it happens here for Sky News and Meteo, that are bonus for subscribers of whatever pay channel or even only the base subscription. So most of the contents people would enjoy on a small screen are traditionally not payed, but financed by advertising, this could open a good market for HW, but a pretty small one for pay services and HW manufacturers are giving customers a way to totally skip pay services, as they are doing videocellphones able to receive normal broadcast TV, possibly digital, but that offers lots of channels in clear and anyway, also for encrypted pay ones, don't give money to telcos. Simply the new cellphones will make become a commodity the old niche of portable TVs.
