Im really amazed at the sony fans who believe they dont money hat or pay for exclusitivity.
Really i just want to say use your brains.
MS does it quite a bit more but sony does it alot too.
Owner of all consoles cept DS.....Currently in love with prototype!
1) 10's of millions in value. No actual cash changing hands.
2) Advertising costs paid for,
royalties per copy drastically cut,
Liscensing fee waived
free development kits
the bundles,
Front of the line tech support
scheduleing so that MGS4 was basically "by itself."
integration into non specific adds.
3) Not really... but for other reasons it's likely worth it.

i can only think of one game: Monster hunter 3. But capcom hate sony, they probably did it for a couple of wiifit board. |
You could argue that.
Though I'm not sure how successfully.
Capcom changed platforms for a game only successful in japan to the only system with healthy sales in Japan. A couple Wiifit boards probably would be overpaying for that.

What exclusives has Nintendo paid for? |
0... thats why the wii doesnt have good games.
End of 2011 (made 02/01/11)
Wii: 99.453 m
Xbox 360: 67.837 m
Ps 3: 60.726 m
Best Games/Serie of the Generation
1. A lot. The estimated budget of MGS4 had already reached 70 million USD 4-5 months ago. Depending on their marketing and costs since that date the budget could plausably end up in the ballpark of GTA4's 100 million.
2. Likely through lowered royalty fee's and taking the burden of marketing costs. Very rarely do publishers pay cash for exclusives because that is more money out of their pockets then if they lower rotalty's which in turn lowers development costs for designers while also maintaining a certain profit margin for the investor. In turn no one actually loses capital which is why this is the general method such investments are funded by.
3. To a certain degree but once U.S reviews begin trickling out and word of mouth opinions spread it is likely this game will not reach the sales potential it was foreseen just a few weeks ago. A likely backlash will probably slow down its long term legs.
useless thread, so let me add one more useless post.
1. Sony wasn't paying for any exclusives if I remember correctly; so none.
2. N/A.
3. With the reviews that are out and the hype most likely yes.

I think it's safe to assume that some kind of royalty break or money exchange occurred to get all those RE games on the GameCube.
