So any one plan to break down the 100 markets th ePS3 is sold in to prove Sonys numbers are false.
So any one plan to break down the 100 markets th ePS3 is sold in to prove Sonys numbers are false.
Here's how it works.
Other tracking services, VGChartz, and Sony internal tracking collect a bunch of retailer data, do a bunch of analysis on it, and they all come up with the same answer: Somewhere between 900k to 1M PS3 have been sold in PAL regions since launch.
Sony takes the high end of the estimate so they can say they sold more. Other tracking services typically take the low end of the estimate to give conservative numbers. VGChartz is usually right in between.
Look at last January when NPD released December numbers and Nintendo PR guys actually publically complained that the Wii numbers were too low, their own data said it should be higher. Every sales number given has 5-10% wiggle room in it.
ioi collects data, presents it to the best of his ability in an unbiased fashion, and we trust him.
Any questions?

The Greatest Game Ever Conceived On Any Platform

according to this website, the Wii reached 1 million in Europe faster than the PS3 (as far as I can tell, for some reaon the launch align doesn't work properly in Europe)
That would make the claim that they made it faster than their competition completely incorrect.
Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!
It's nice to know that the PS3 is selling faster than the 360 did at this point in its life, but the more interesting thing to look at would be how fast they are selling now, the 360, PS3, and Wii.
Along with being interesting, it's the one that actually matters.
Actually, from examining the charts, it doesn't appear the PS3 IS selling better at this point in it's life than the 360 was. There is precisely one section of the graphs that clearly favors the PS3 -- the first two to three weeks after launch for each respective system. From what I can tell (and as others have noticed, it's difficult to be precise since the launch alignments are slightly boinked), the PS3 sold 200,000+ more units during its first three weeks than the 360 did (almost 700,000 for the PS3, and perhaps 400,000 for the 360). After that, the PS3 went in line with 360 sales. It's actually possible (again, based purely on eyeballing) that the PS3 is now selling less well than the 360 did at this point in its life: it's still riding that 200,000+ cushion it recieved upon its release.

So much bitchin just cause something sony did well, lol and wow thats pathetic.
Yep, I just went back and examined the figures more directly for the 360/PS3. We're now 10 weeks past the initial launch of the PS3: the last week's total was 18,713, as can be viewed here:
http://vgchartz.com/eweekly.php?date=39236
10 weeks after the 360's launch, it's total weekly sales were 27,262, as can be viewed here:
http://vgchartz.com/eweekly.php?date=38767
Also importantly, we can add the totals for the first three weeks of both consoles. The 360 launched in Europe during the week of December 11th, 2005. The 360's first three weeks totaled as follows:
Week 1: 232,546
Week 2: 99,995
Week 3: 71,040
The Playstation 3 launched during the week of March 25, 2007. The PS3's first three weeks totaled as follows:
Week 1: 520,325
Week 2: 103,667
Week 3: 66,790
The 360's total is 403,561, while the PS3's total is 690,782, giving the PS3 an initial lead of 287,221. Since that time, the 360 has actually sold better than the PS3 every week except for one (Week 4). In other words, the PS3 started out stronger and became weaker: the 360 started out weaker and became stronger.
Still, this doesn't change the fact that the PS3 has (or will) reach the one million mark before the 360 did.

...and fact PS3 needs software to become stronger. Current higher sale of X means nothing in long term.

And so does the xbox360? I don't understand your point. You argue that new software titles will boost PS3 sales: why wouldn't the same be true for the 360?
