Forums - Sony - What would u do if PSN cost $$$?

I know dude, it is $5 dollars. My fucking rent is $950 dollars. I just won't drive home for lunch one day.

I wouldn't pay for online. Get a better graphics card for my PC and play online games on the PC. I payed for xbox live for a year on the first xbox. I'll not make that mistake again. It's just not worth it.

I'm pretty sure Sony will stick with free online for PSN and make money other ways from it. In game advertising etc.. it makes much more sense. Free PSN really is a good selling point against the pay for Xbox Live. Certainly made my buy PS3 decision a lot easier.

So PS users would go PC only? What about multi console owners--what would you do in this case. I am trying to get a sense of what a typical response could look like b/c I see this coming, unfortunately.

im sorry but that to me seems like ure fishing fer an anwer you wanna hear.... ex: Xbox owner: i got em both and my PS will be collecting dust.

As fer me PC will also be a logical answer...

IF.

there was a charge i would under no circumstances pay for it just like i will never pay for live.

$5 is less than breakfast.

That said, I already pay for Live, so I most definitely would not pay for PSN as well.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I still can't believe people pay 5 dollars a month to play xbox online.

It's $4.17/month if you pay in advance...

Not everyone lives in the US, i know in Canada its $60 plus whatever tax you have which is 13% where i live.  And from what i have heard from people on the net its a lot more in Europe.

I would never pay to play online, its not worth it.  I would go to PC gaming if Sony started to charge for online gaming.  And i would not be buying a PS4 for next gen.

It completely depends on what they are offering for the fee. Right now, they can't charge for what they offer. If they start charging, then they better offer a service at least on par with XBL. If the service was good enough, I'd pay for it. I don't think it is likely for the PS3 though. To be able to offer a seamless online experience from one game to the next, older games would have to be revisited and adapted. That isn't going to happen. I think the PS4 will have a completely rethought online strategy that may include a subscription.

I give this thread a 9.7.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

doesnt matter they will not charge for it...when quore or whatever it is fails they will realize this.

But even if it takes off they are going to only charge for PSN stuff that was free like demos and stuff. Call them exculsive and people who pay get to play them earlier then people who do not. But their high selling point is free and it will always be free.

I would cry, then sell warhawk, then buy an xbox....
not really. I'd just stop playing console games online.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it
