I've heard the Pioneer Kuro can upscale SD and sub-HD much better than the XBR4 though. T__T

Well, the Elites are the most expensive (and best) TVs on the market. :P
Pioneer definitely rules the plasma realm.

| headshot91 said: No, i said and / or. I wouldnt mind poss native 1080p at 30fps or vice versa. But I am dissapointed with the 720p news. Sony touted many of its games would run at full hd and they are not. However it is still going to be a great game if r 1 is anything to go by and the res is still only one small problem. No argument over the quality of this game, just that i expected 1080p support out of the box like COD4 |

I'm not in the least disappointed and I think comparing to COD4 is a mistake.
COD4 is lower res than 720p you're just seeing it upscaled - 720p native should look better.
COD4 looks great but at a cost to get those 60 fps - minimal physics (look the barrels... don't move). Most of COD4 is static and if the gameplay wasn't so sweet it would stick out a mile compared to games like Half Life 2 or Crysis
30fps at 720p with the kind of levels/number of players Insomniac seem to be aiming for is actually at the high end of what PS3 (and 360) can produce currently.
If you're really serious about resolution then I'd suggest PC FPS gaming would be more suited to you. COD4 on PC looks a lot better than PS3/360 due to the higher resolution it supports (still no physics for most objects and very limited linear path through SP).
Finally look at the player count of COD4 on PS3/360 or games like GoW and Halo 3 then look at the player count for RFOM2 - 8 coop, 60 MP - there's no way you could get 60fps for that many players without having to really drop the resolution below 720p and probably lose many effects and post-processing effects - the PS3 (nor the 360 to prevent flames) are that powerful graphically. You'd need a pretty decent PC for that.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
360/PS3 fans just have to accept that their consoles don't have enough power to natively render all games in 1080p. In any case, there are many things which are more important than resolution.

Anyway, I think it would have been nice for those who wanted 1080p at 60fps. I on the other hand have no idea what that is and only have sdtv. So either way i'm going to enjoy R2.
I don't even think the human eye can tell the difference on a screen smaller than 40"
On my 32" Samsung which I have for my gaming room(I view from about 4 feet) there is literally no discernable difference between 1080p and 720p, to the human eye, I know that.
So, if I have a setup like that, why would I or anyone even care if the game doesn't look as good as it possibly could on a 50" plasma? If it locks in the framerate, then that small percentage of gamers who use a super huge-expensive TV because they like to set 20 feet away from it when they are gaming, can kiss my butt. I say lock in the frame rate, and worry about resoution later.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
Also just in case you think I'm a resistance fanboy or something, the game looks grey and mediocre like the first Resistance. I wouldn't buy or play it any sooner than I would buy or play Killzone 2, or Gears of War 2. Meh.

720 is the sweet spot for resolution at least for this generation. Then just upscale and add lots of special effects.

I feel the same
30 fps is troubling. I really tend to notice such differences and though it's not as essential in an FPS game, games this generation really shouldn't run lower than 60 frames.
