Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Before bedtime: For those that thought Banjo 3 wasn't a platformer.

@darth,

I fink not. LBP will get good reviews (87%) but it's new IP and the PS3 dont have small children demographics yet ($400 does that to a console).

LBP 1.5 million if its lucky.

Banio 3 will sell 3 million

Oh and Slimebeast

HOW DARE YOU insult nintendo so much

they make the best games for kids....PDZ wasn't a decent game for kids.

lol, you are right of course.

*slaps forehead* How stupid of me. Okay, correction. Rare makes the 2nd best games for kids.

@slimebeast

& 360 has a huge childrens audience.....right??

Look..LBP I am betting on will be popular with the hardcore due to creating levels & competing for higher rankings...I feel LBP will get 95% on Average

I have never been this optimistic for a game ever....but LBP may be one othe success stories of this gen if all is done correctly.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

@slimebeast

AND Banjo also has the potential to be HUGE with critics if everything is done properly..no doubts

but I just don't feel it will appeal to hardcore gamers.

Banjo 3 will be a good game, but it will not be what people expected it to be.
Which is a good thing in reality. This generation has seen very few surprises and most games that are part of a long running series have simply been carbon copies of the last installments. Something got to give and I'm glad rare chose to do it with Banjo. Sure its pissed people off, but most great art has pissed people off at first. Now I'm not implying that its going to be the best game since sliced bread but its still definitly a game worth checking out as such a vehicle based platformer hasn't really been done before, it could potentially really open up  the worlds in a way very few platformers can. It could be crap, but the press so far seem to like it and as they're the only ones that have played it so far thats all we really have to go on until it gets released.

well next to gameplay the most important things of a gaming ip is its atmosphere, characters, and music. banjo still has all of those and i actually really like the main city u see in the trailers. Final fantasy being the big exception here

im pretty sure there will be a racing level or 2 in the coliseum. levels like that usually mix up the pace and are in most platformers

its adding good co-op, online multiplayer, and making the platformer genre less linear so u have to credit them for that

Unlike what a standard BK game could have done, this won't make me buy a 360.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Banjo Kazooie is as much as a platformer as Need for Speed: Most Wanted is a realistic racer.

I hate to say it, but this tends to be my opinion also.

That article loses credibility when it fails to menion SMG in any sense. Even Banjo didn't forget that in the freakin' trailer.

That said it doesn't have to be a platformer to be great. It just shouldn't have played up the vehicles so much in the trailer.

You play SMG then look at that trailer and your like "UGH!"

I am anyway, lol...

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

1.- For what I heard Halo online say yes

2.- Then LBP will be better game than MGS4?

3.- MGS4 say hello

I think a more realistic accusation than racer is that BK3 is a kart game like CTR or MK. Those are both more racing centric than BK3 but BK3 appears to have more in common with them than with traditional platformers.

Oh and of course it doesn't mean the game is going to bad, just a disappointment for the old Banjo diehard fans who were hoping for another Banjo-Kazooie, not for Banjo Kart.

Alas, this is one of the more fundamental misconceptions that drawn from the trailer.

The game has puzzles that need to be solved by collecting parts and amalgamating them into highly customizable vehicles of all descriptions.

That is the very definition of platforming, even if its not the platformer you wanted.
