Long run: Mario Kart Wii.
This year: SSBB.
The thing with SSBB is that the lack of online rankings will keep plenty of people away from the game and I will probably be one of them. MK meanwhile has a lovely online play with plenty of things to compete for.
I don't know why people call MK casual. I'm quite sure that the 150cc Cups and the Online frustrate a lot of casuals.

The lack of leaderboards will keep 10.000 people away from Brawl.
The lack of leaderboards could possibly make 1.000.000 people feel better because they do not get shoved into their face that they are horrid.
OT: I expect MKWii to sell at least 33% more than SSBB in the long run.
Something along the lines 12M - 16M

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS
I think it will be fairly close for a year or 2, but then Brawl's legs will fall below MK losing the lead.
I see both of them selling well over 10 million however.

Not only that, but Double Dash launched two years later than Melee. Mario Kart Wii will be the victor easily. Its long term appeal will show. Brawl looks strong now, but it won't have legs like Mario Kart. |
Which would mean more if it wasn't for the fact that said games were all bundled with the Nintendo Systems.
It's easy to be the best seller on your system when you spend most of the time in the generation with a direct 1 to 1 sales ratio.

You know ... they could simply add a option to play "ranked games" or "training games" to make happy the both sides.

MK Wii will beat Brawl for sure.
Two words :
Better online.

I've always thought that MKWii will sell more than Brawl. Brawl will spike once its released in Others, but Mario Kart has always outperformed Smash Bros in that region, so MKWii will sell more worldwide. I predict that MKWii will have the longer legs of the two.
