i didn't call them i was contemplating the idea of doing so until i read on the net that they will probably make me hold the power button in etc...
Also i did take it back for that very reason alone so I can play MGS4.
Which would of been useless since I discovered today that my power button never really worked properly anyway.
The lesson learned here is that you should never shut off your PS3. That makes it unhappy. ^_^
That is truly unlucky, pal, probably a fan issue or a diode meltdown. Either way; get it replaced, I'm sure the store you bought it in will help you out and send you on your way with a new one in no time! 
Well the replacement seems to be working fine. I cna even turn the PS3 of with the power button on the console itself this time around. So signed are looking a bit better.
I left it on in standby mode hopefully that wont kill it.
