I would guess March of 09.

I'd wager summer 09, maybe earlier depending on holiday boost/game release boost. Maybe even a price drop/bundle/new color could get sales even higher.
Well, it sold 3.6M last year in Japan, and it is tracking slightly below that now (around 10%), so 3.5ish M this year seems realistic.
That means 2M more for this year, bringing it up to 8-8.5M for end of the year.
So far this year it has sold 1.4M, and as it needs about 1.8M, I'm going to say 60 weeks from now, or end of June '09.

I say March of 09. It will have heavy hitters in Japan coming. Trust me, Nintendo will do just like Sony and throw out MAJOR hits, not sit on their asses the entire year. (though they could do that with the enormous amount of cash they are raking in to their hands.)
The Ps2 made 10M after around 150 weeks. That would for Wii be around christmas times '09
DS made 10M in 90 weeks, that would be around October this year
As the Wii is selling in the middle of those 2, it is hard to say whether it will keep on selling "low" like the Ps2, or take off like the DS.
I believe the first will be the case, as taking off like the DS seems impossible.
