wouldn't consider 4-5 million owners who will end up buying this game "niche".

I don't really consider Edge as that respected, 6 for Mario Kart? Even I would've given it a 7.

Software yes, there is enough room to get to the 3 millions mark with some time, but since the sales of the previous games were shrinking on a every day bigger install base I fail to see the huge impact of this game in the hardware, maybe a nice spike but thats all...

I think it will be a slight system seller simply due to hype. The public at large aren't going to read the reviews and go "oh, well I'm not sure this shoot em up is for me", they are more likely to see the huge ad campaign be pumped and then buy a PS3. Even if they are dissatisfied with the fact it's a stealth shootem up with cutscenes the length of full feature films, they still bought it.

I don't think it will move a ton of systems, it's no Halo 3, but it will push a few.

No system seller just a magnificent game that many love.

Any site that gave GTA IV a 10 and still sticking to it is not respectable and will not be untill they change that rewiev.

The_vagabond7,+1 for you.


Basically, it should be a nich product (except MGS1 that appealed to more people as it was a new IP with no fan base)
BUT
this generation, MGS4 has been hyped a lot, there is a bundle, a 80gb reintroduction in US, the game is good (not 10/10 but still very good), it is more action and less snaking (= more appealing) so I believe it will sell even for people who dont know the MGS serie very well.

There are 77 (SEVENTY SEVEN) reviews scoring GTAIV 10/10 comining PS3 and 360 reviews... are all of those not respectable either?  grow up.
