Forums - Sony - 8 like Eurogamer again, Edge review (MGS4, Grid, Lostwinds, Haze)

A lower score on Edge generally means I will like the game better. They gave Lost Odyssey a 7 and Halo a 10. Some reviewers just don't like story, cut scenes, etc. I love these things.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

As I said in another thread ...

Metal Gear Solid 4's story will be seen as complicated and deep by some, and convoluted by others; like all previous Metal Gear Solid games. The gameplay will seem like a combination of nostalgia and fresh ideas by some, and will be seen as outdated by others. This combination of factors will mean that some reviewers give the game scores in the 90% range (with a few 100% scores), and other reviewers will give the game scores in the 80% range (with a few in the 70% range).

I got Grid 2 days ago. Best racing game Ive ever played. I'm not big on the whole simulation/perfect driving experience so I find forza and GT a not that fun. Also I am not big fan of hold down gas and see ya at the finish line(like burnout) as I like to use breaks and have some consequences for assholes that just plow through other people.

This game is just perfect of both worlds. Not too much fiddling and enough realism...
Hope it sells well.

Well that's quite what those Dutch guys said. It's not too much simulation, but also not as simple as Burnout and Need for Speed.

MGS2 got the same score too..

as usual MGS games get a VERY high score on BIG gaming sites as the fans review it there.....then it gets full 10's on some mags.....8's on some mags

WE STILL don't have 7 like MGS2 n 3 got though..

Yeah. Fans really shouldn't review games. It should be done by people who can be somewhat impartial.

That's the biggest problem with the videogame review system. They get fans of certain genres to review certain games, rather then having people who are fans of all videogames and can look at things semi objectional do them all.

Just how it's done in the movie industry or any other somewhat credible review system.

I mean... why in the world would you want the fans to review it?  Fans of the series or that type of genre are going to get the game anyway.  Reviews should be for people that kinda like said genre but don't love it.

Not some hypefest sales boost by fanboys who plan to get it anyway.

Seems reasonable, but how dare they rip on little Indy J.

lol yeah that bugged me too.  I really want Lego Indiana Jones.

I find that Edge is absolutely impossible to gauge as far as scores are concerned. Half the time I get the sense that the technology that undergirds the game is more important than how fun it is, or that they take away points from a game because--even though it is great fun--it isn't doing anything new.

Essentially, their reviews have become about as relevant as Famitsu's (which were never relevant to begin with). I'm still pretty sure that, far and away, Eurogamer has the best reviewers on the planet (even if, a great deal of the time, the jokes fall completely flat).

Note: I am an American, but Eurogamer is far, far superior to *any* of the other English-language outlets out there.

well, EDGE Eurogamer 1up

Halo 3

10/10

The saddest part is, it probably having lower sales among those games, I mean all of them(from GT to NFS).

Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses

"Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation," Quotes from Sony’s CFO Nobuyuki Oneda.
