All the teams that finished 1st in their respective groups, are out on quarter finals. If this is a trend tomorrow Spain wins.

I hope Italy wins though, I have more Italian than Spanish blood running through me.

I don't think Germany will be in the final, I expect Turkey - Italy. But I hope for a Turkey - Russia final, that would be great IMO.
No Germany - Italy please, that''d be a boring game for sure. Smaller teams proved that they can complicate big teams' existance quite easily.

I wanted the Dutch to win tonight but,credit has to be given to Russia for their display.They were much the better team and now have as good a chance as anyone of winning the tournament.

Now this was impressive.

The Russian team played tactically brilliant this evening and extremely disciplined. Arshavin's return (already in the game against SWE) improved and stabilized their gameplay considerably.

They totally eliminated all the strengths of the Dutch team and dominated the game completely.
A deserved win and a tactical masterpiece by Hiddink and his players.

The Russian football (the youth work especially) is powered by enormous investments from gas & oil barons and will play a major role in Europe in the future (Zenit St. Peterburg's Uefa Cup win this year was only the first sign).


Now let's see what Spain can achieve in the last 1/4 final. I'm sure the Spanish team won't underestimate Italy, but they should be alarmed additionally now by the POR & NED results.

Russia deserved the win... it's a shame it happened in the knockout phase.
