Forums - Sales - Quake Wars doesn't make big splash?

So, Splash Damage's ET: Quake Wars came out on the 27th of May for both current HD consoles without much fuss. Seems to me that nobody really cares.

I am really interested to see the first week numbers for this on PS3 and 360. I have the PC version already so I probably won't be getting this for PS3 as well.

I have tried to dig around and find how well this game sold on PC. Best number I found is the TOTAL PLAYERS figure listed at http://stats.enemyterritory.com/. This is currently at just over 300k. I am assuming (perhaps stupidly) that number represents the total amount of people that registered online. Not everyone that owns this game would have signed up, though. My brother and I have only ever played this on LANs, so the number sold is probably higher.

I had high hopes that this would do well on consoles, but the very few reviews in so far (another telling sign of lack of interest) look like a mixed bag. General consensus so far is that PC version is still the daddy overall. Between the X360 and PS3, PS3 is the worse version.  Both versions are rather laggy. Graphically, PC is the best. I can't say I see much wisdom in comparing GFX, though. A PC game designed for a minimum (ie lowest settings) requirement of 512Mb system ram and 128Mb video ram just probably wasn't going to be able to run at high detail settings on consoles that can't match the PC specs needed for high detail settings.

Hopefully a demo will be released, but it's a bit late in the day for that.

Even If it did start off moderately big, I'd expect it to fall down the charts fairly quickly.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Jup, that was my fear for QW too. CoD4 completely overshadowed it. People also weren't totally done with the battlefield franchise either and my guess is for consoles that people who do want to play some online large shoot-out will now get BF: Bad company.

I have have the PC-version and I think it's easily the best online-shooter ever made. Very well implemented with pretty advanced team gameplay. Superb balance. I'm not a big Quake-fan, but this game is just very very good. I was very disappointed by all the criticism, the bad word-of-mouth and bad reviews the game got. And crappy sales.

So with that in mind, you could not have high hopes when this is coming to consoles. The game gets no attention at all, and sales are going to be horrible.

A lot of people are simply missing a great game. I just hope that Id/Splash Damage didn't lose too much money and don't do any drastical changes to this great online dev team.

Nobody does care. Glad it will bomb because they are just pulling a UT 3 again. If you want to release it on PC then get another company to port your games over (or just release it later), realize your game will sell like shit on consoles and rightfully so. Thanks to valve for actually making the 360 version of Orange Box and not releasing it 6 months later. Orange box on PS3 got the quake wars treatment and it sold like crap.

I thoguht the game was too much sauce and not enough meat on the PC...maybe console versions have more action?

Quake Wars was the best multiplayer FPS of Last Year, much deeper than COD4 and the like.

Im sure its plenty deep...im just saying...I like games where you get a gun and kill the other guys. Thats what Quake used to be.

This one was to much fiddling with classes and missions...building things...I guess its for people that enjoy deeper gameplay than me.

Whatever first week sales it has will be the majority of its lifetime sales...MGS4 is about to render every other game void

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
