So, Splash Damage's ET: Quake Wars came out on the 27th of May for both current HD consoles without much fuss. Seems to me that nobody really cares.
I am really interested to see the first week numbers for this on PS3 and 360. I have the PC version already so I probably won't be getting this for PS3 as well.
I have tried to dig around and find how well this game sold on PC. Best number I found is the TOTAL PLAYERS figure listed at http://stats.enemyterritory.com/. This is currently at just over 300k. I am assuming (perhaps stupidly) that number represents the total amount of people that registered online. Not everyone that owns this game would have signed up, though. My brother and I have only ever played this on LANs, so the number sold is probably higher.
I had high hopes that this would do well on consoles, but the very few reviews in so far (another telling sign of lack of interest) look like a mixed bag. General consensus so far is that PC version is still the daddy overall. Between the X360 and PS3, PS3 is the worse version. Both versions are rather laggy. Graphically, PC is the best. I can't say I see much wisdom in comparing GFX, though. A PC game designed for a minimum (ie lowest settings) requirement of 512Mb system ram and 128Mb video ram just probably wasn't going to be able to run at high detail settings on consoles that can't match the PC specs needed for high detail settings.
Hopefully a demo will be released, but it's a bit late in the day for that.
Your thoughts?
