It's not a question of whether or not the game will bomb but more a question of how good it will be and what review scores it receives in comparison to the other games that are released this holiday season. If it gets a 10 from places like IGN; then, it will sell like hotcakes and move a ton of 360's out of stores. However, if it doesn't blow every game that comes out at about the same time out of the water in terms of reviews, etc, then it will only sell to people that already had a 360 and enjoyed the first game instead of bringing in a lot of new 360 owners. If Resistance II gets comparable or even manages to get better review scores, for example, then the 360 won't really bring in any more customers than will the PS3 based on the strengths of those two games. Unless, Resistance 2 or Gears 2 turns out to be a brick, what could really determine how the console sales 360 versus PS3 race goes could come down to dark horses Game of the Year contenders like Little Big Planet or Banjo Kazooie III, whether the 360 or PS3 is considered by the majority of critics to get the better version of this holiday's third party multi-player games eg. Dead Space, Fallout 3, Damnation, or Prince of Persia, or if one of the companies has a surprise up their sleeve. Eg. Naughty Dog bringing out Jak and Daxter: The Lost Territory to compliment the other games that we know Sony has lined up for this holiday season or if Final Fantasy XIII comes out before the end of the year.
