... 2 million in it's first week? No way. The other MGS-games debuted to way less, and they had a much bigger install base, except maybe MGS2.

MGS 4 is PS3's equivalent of Halo 3. Halo 3 sold 3 million in first week on the 360.

MGS4 is definitely not PS3s Halo 3. Metal Gear Solid is far from that mainstream. If anything, Final Fantasy XIII is PS3s Halo 3.

this game will sell lots and sell lots of ps3, thats the main thing im bothered about. end of 2008 ps3 will be in a irreversable position to overturn the 1 year headstart 360 had.

mid 2009 is my bet, (exodus from vgchartz around then for some?)

Japan: 200,000 to 300,000 (Hardware 40,000)
North America: 500,000 to 750,000 (Hardware 150,000)

Total: 1.2 to 1.7 Million (Hardware 340,000)

Wait, those are Rock_no_2008's numbers? I've got to adjust my wildest numbers lower.

MGS4 must be at some 1.1M with pre-orders only when it's released (if previous numbers are correct of course). At to that sales of at least 300k, probably more, and we're at 1.4M. And that should be a safe guess (although it depends on pre-order sale numbers). We could probably add at least 600k instead of 300k and we'd have 1.7M instead of 1.4M. Still, I remain suspicious about pre-orders.

Nah, GTAIV got 2.4 (or 2.something) so MGS4 will definitely get 1.7 or more. 1.7M actually sounds pretty good.

Hardware... I don't know.... 300k total that week? Maybe 350k? Or in some miraculous case even 400k?
