What you need to keep in mind Blue, is that what you might think would be a great idea as a user, is not going to be necessarily a good idea as a producer. Buying SE would be foolish because it would cost too much money. Even if all SE ip's were after that point exclusive to Sony, how long do you think it would take to make that money back for the purchase?

In any case, this thread isn't about Sony buying anyone. I'm curious what they are going to announce on June 11th, but until its announced I don't much care one way or the other.

Well buying a big company CAN work but it can also destroy you. As was mentioned above by DKII, Square is organized as a multiplatform company. More than half their employees are developing for other platforms and their business plan relies on the support of those sales (DQIX on the DS for example has the large Japanese user base that they couldn't get if they put it on the PSP). Buying SE back in the PSone era may have been alright, because all the company's games were Sony games anyway, but now it's way too fragmented to be a successful marketing decision.

The way I understood it they just wanted to start a new series, based on Xenogears, rather than continue Xenogears itself.  Xenosaga was made with most of the Xenogears developers, and fits in the storyline pretty well too

I love it when they use that card. It's almost as though it's the sole reason they spent 600 dollars; to go around spurting it to everyone. Is it a remedy for buyers remorse?

Well I can't afford a PS3, but I certainly want one. I'm not attacking it either, I think it's a great machine and there are a lot of games I'm really looking forward to on it (particularly GT5). I don't like being called poor though just cause I have bills and responsibilities that don't allow for the cash required for a $600 game system. I don't think fanboys realize how detrimental it is to the image of the system when it's owners say things like that.

its just angers me these stupid f&cks who make fun of pll cause they're poor makes me so mad... i didnt have sh!t when i was a child..so i worked hard and now i have damn near everything i want...except a 2007 S-class AMG BENZ..

EDIT: i take that back...when i was a child i had video game systems my mother and father bought me..THANKS GUYS!! great memories playing nes/snes.N64 with my 2 brothers..ah the good ol days living stress free and not gettin any punan lol
