Forums - Sales - Does the 360 stand a chance to outsell the PS3 in Japan on NG2 Week?

As the title says. The PS3 has been doing pretty bad as of late. But of course, the 360 is doing even worse.

Last year, we were in a very similar situation: Ninja Gaiden Sigma just launched on the PS3 against Eternal Sonata on the 360. ES won the first week battle, moved more HW (in %), but the PS3 still beat it in terms of overall hardware sales, and NGS outsold ES, eventually.

This year, the PS3 is doing even worse, as is the 360. In 2 weeks, DBZ: Burst Limit will launch for both the 360 and PS3. However, NG2 is launching on the 360 as well.

NG1 had a good run on the orig. Xbox in Japan. It was 2004's top-selling Xbox game (at a paltry 60k units)...Could NG2 be a catalyst for the 360 making one last-ditch run at topping the PS3s hardware sales for just 1 week before MGS4 kills 360 sales?

11/04/2007 - The week the X360 outsold the PS3 in Japan.

It has happened before but I can't even begin to suspect whether it will happen this round or not.

really depends on how much of an impact DBZ: Burst Limit has .. I think it's possible for 360 to outsell the PS3 in Japan that week, but the bigger DBZ is, the less likely it will get

i think its possible,though if dbz doesnt give ps3 a big boost(which i dont think it will)

It's possible.  It's not like a huge gap between them some weeks.  Whether it's 1800 360's or 7500 PS3 units, does it really matter?  Those numbers are so totally insignificant to the big picture when you're talking overall sales for those consoles.  If they sell 150k worldwide and say 5k in Japan, that's only 3.5% of sales.

360 outselling ps3 in japan in 1week? wow thats funny. well theyre both doing terrible so i comes as no surprise. wut wud surprise me iz if the 360 outsold the wii in japan. that wud be awesome

You are obviously not looking at the big picture.... TOTAL SALES is the big picture. Not weekly sales. And if we took out Japans 2mil from the Ps3 it would be at less than 11mil. Which obviously is worse.

It's possible, but surely if it's the 2nd in a franchise for this generation, the hardware boost would have occured when the first one was released, not now
