Forums - Gaming - Looking for the ideal tv for the Wii

Greetings to all of you…As you can probably see I am a newbie here and I would really appreciate your help in this matter…

I am ready to buy a TV for my gaming needs and especially for the wii…

The thing is that I still have not decided which one is better, strictly for the wii…LCD HD or SD ??

The thing is that I hear/read always contradictory things about the ideal tv solution for the wii…for example there is always the mention of intolerable jaggies in 480p..

I have decided to go for a 32” tv and some of the options I have considered are the Samsung L32 M71,the Philips PF9631 and theSony  Bravia KDL32V2500 but I am still not sure if the use of the component cable along with an hd will improve drastically things.

I have the fear that when I will buy an hd and connect Wii, there will be horrible pixelation, ghosting, jaggies etc etc.

Do you think that with an 27 inches tv, the jaggies would be lesser?

So, if you can help me in any way I would greatly appreciate it…

Component cables certainly do help.

Unfortunately, with an LCD tv, you'll be getting some jaggies, but it's not that bad.

If you were getting a larger tv, plasma is a lot better than LCD.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

The best TV on the market IMHO is the LCD Samsung. (Sony's LCD screens are also made by Samsung btw).

See the particular one I want @ http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Samsung-40-LCD-HDTV-LN-T4065F/sem/rpsm/oid/175543/catOid/-12867/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

Samsung LN-T4065F.

Plasma the best... specially for wii, no 1080 requiered

Νah...I think iwill stick with the 32..after all i think that the jaggies are getting bigger, as you procced in larger tvs...

Plasmas?I haven;t considered them? And why do you think that they are the best for the wii?

Thanx again guys...anything is appreciated...

I would seriously not choose a plasma until the technology has improved. ATM they don't last any more than 5 years then they have to be replaced, which was why SOny dropped them. Also BTW, Sony TVs are not made by Samsung, but rather they are built in recently built factory owned by both Sony and Samsing, so there isn't really anything to choose between Sony and Samsung TVs.

TBH, if you're buying a TV now, and you can afford it, I'd go for at least an HD Ready 720p screen, because it's unlikely you won't replace it for another 5 years atleast (we still have a about 9 year old Sony Bravia), and by then HD content should be more prevalent, and you'll be able to take advantage of it. I mean here in the UK you can already watch BBC programmes in HD.

Get the best T.V. you can to make up for the "unfortunate" graphics.

get some big high quality tube, its gonna be cheep or a crt cheeper then lcd/plasma.  You sure dont need a plasma or lcd for the wii.

Samsung LN-T4065F.

Oh so very wrong. Sony uses Samsung panels, but the video processing is all Sony, as is the Power regulation for the panel. The Samsung LCDs and Plasmas are OK, but Pioneer kills them on the Plasma front, as does Sony on the LCD front.

Sony dropped plasma because it was not cost effective for them. They were using Fujitsu panels and at the time they were very expensive and are very limiting on size. Also plasmas dont need to be replaced in 5 years. The very first plasmas were very poor quality, but the ones out today have none of the problems the first gens did. Burn in is a non issue now, as are black levels and color reproduction....both of which are far better than LCD.
