Forums - Microsoft - Fisrt batches of NG2 review out.

This was funny:
www.computerandvideogames.com

Uppers
    Near-perfect combat
    Massive boss battles
    Lashings of blood and gore
Downers
    Horrible camera (still!)
    Occasional slowdown
    Mid-combat loading
    Too similar to the original

Hmm ... something interesting:

"... I submit to you that the camera in Ninja Gaiden 2 is in fact an improvement over the perched-in-place version found in its original Xbox predecessor. That's right, I said it, probably in contravention of everything you're about to read from every other critic who's going to tell you it's a spasmodic mess, that it gets lost behind walls or trapped in tight corners, and that it fixates on being precisely where you least need it in desperately frenetic situations. I respectfully disagree. I think it's right where it's meant to be nearly all of the time. Why? Because that's exactly where I managed to keep it, and while I can't speak for anyone but myself, my theory's that the freely rotatable camera in Ninja Gaiden 2 is simply part of the overarching control mechanic you're intended to master ... Your job is to control both the layout and flow, in other words, not wait for the design team to lay things out for you like road stripes down some invisible highway. No Z-trigger gimmicks with easy lock-on cameras, no cheaply hamstrung AI that won't attack from any angle. Ninja Gaiden 2 isn't just about chaining buttons and timing countermoves and learning to read each enemy's telltale combo signs, it's also about directing yourself in a way that best suits your own unique play style."

Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

they gave it a C

"If you like blistered thumbs, splinting headaches or yelling at the top of your lungs out of frustration, then you’ll probably like Ninja Gaiden II..."

something tells me they didn't like this genre,,,,god damn it if you don't like hack and slash don't review it.

^ Extract from article sums up Ninja Gaiden 2
"Ninja Gaiden II is a perfect example of why I have gotten so bored of games developed by the Japanese. Not much about this sequel is really that different than the original Xbox games. The play mechanics are still roughly about the same. This is an insane button masher with very graphic violence, so expect to see a lot of heads and arms being removed by your swords".

I don't even think you could beat ninja dog mode by button mashing.

So there is still slowdown on the retail disc?

Looks like Team XBOX was caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

Do you read or just post crap to bash anything 360?

TXB didn't have their hands in the cookie jar, they are actually waited to see if the final retail disc have the same problem as their review copy.  I think this is the best way to review any games actually.  This how it used to be in the past where games would hit the store and the reviewers play the same game we played and at the same pace.

Sadly today they all want to rush out and be the first to post or publish the review that they sacrifice integrity for the sake of being the first out.  Most reviewers I doubt finish game like GTAIV or LO and if they did, pretty much force to playthrough the game so fast and essentially the review we got is nothing more than game impression.

Probably not, although I never played that mode... Ninja Gaiden Black really requires you to focus on what to do, right from the first level. When you get to the really sneaky enemies, your timing, movements and blocking have to be really good or you'll be getting the Game Over screen every 2 minutes. Furthermore, each weapon requires you to play differently, it's not easy to master all of them.

I heard Ninja Gaiden 2 is even harder, so calling it a button masher is certainly not appropriate.
