^ Extract from article sums up Ninja Gaiden 2
"Ninja Gaiden II is a perfect example of why I have gotten so bored of games developed by the Japanese. Not much about this sequel is really that different than the original Xbox games. The play mechanics are still roughly about the same. This is an insane button masher with very graphic violence, so expect to see a lot of heads and arms being removed by your swords".

I don't even think you could beat ninja dog mode by button mashing.

Probably not, although I never played that mode... Ninja Gaiden Black really requires you to focus on what to do, right from the first level. When you get to the really sneaky enemies, your timing, movements and blocking have to be really good or you'll be getting the Game Over screen every 2 minutes. Furthermore, each weapon requires you to play differently, it's not easy to master all of them.

I heard Ninja Gaiden 2 is even harder, so calling it a button masher is certainly not appropriate.
