The only have fighting games on my GCN/Wii. I scroll through the boxes in my Pokemon GBA/DS games, but I RARELY do so. I don't know why the L Button always get stuck.

I think you might be on to something, because the people I know who have had problems regularly with their GBA generally treat them like crap. I'm sure playing games that use L+R buttons frequently, like MK or fighters, contribute to the problem greatly. Judging from these post, it might be a bigger problem than I initially thought. I guess there are a lot of abusive people playing vgs. Come on people! Don't take your aggression and anger out on an innocent handheld. Channel it, by beating-up on somebody you know.

ahh well you did say mario kart and well fighting games can require you to go all out on your shoulder buttons too.

I actually take very good care of all my systems and games; I'm not really sure what caused the problem with the L button. I just noticed it one day while playing Contra 4.

Both shoulder buttons won't work when I play Mario Kart DS...

This happened to mine for a while after I dropped my DS on it's side.

I HAVE A SOLUTION!!!


Just keep clicking them a bunch for a while (while the DS is on, when you're watching TV or something), and blow in the shoulder button every 30 seconds. It will may take a couple of days to return completely back to normal, but you should see immediate results after about 2 minutes. let me know if it works.

I also have a solution:

 

This is a common problems with DS, as dirt and dust accumulate rather easily under the shoulder buttons. Lift it up as high as it will go(your L button) without breaking it and blow for as long and hard as you can. Now your DS is fixed. A bill will be arriving shortly. I'm joking about the bill, but not about the fix. Duster, if you have it, will fix the button like new in seconds.

 

If you keep your DS in a drawer while your not using it, this will not happen.

Zen and L.C.E.C., I did both of the instructions you told me to do at the same time and using those methods in unison, it worked. I can scroll my Pokemon game's PC Boxes flawlessly. :D

Same happened to my R button the the DS Lite like a month after I bought it (they replaced it for free, obviously).
