Forums - Sales - Around 300,000 PS3s sold in Benelux, but 360 still ahead for now.

^and Denmark.

Anyone ever notice Scandanavia looks like a camels head eating something (Sweden+Norway eating Denmark)

Or on the Euro coins it shows a map without Norway which makes Sweden and Finland look like a penis.

Last I heard Ireland (Rep. of) has a population around 8 million, which is small.

As with all data, there is a possiblilty we are slightly under or overtracking but not by much - 50% of "Other Europe" sounds about right really, Ireland is tiny, Switzerland and Austria are reasonably sized but the benelux countries despite a small population are pretty rich countries and have relatively large economies.

I compared the total Other Europe numbers with numbers provided by Adese for 2006 and 2007. The Netherlands and Belgium combined are around 1.05M for 2006 and 1.66M for 2007. Other Europe for 2007 is at 1.64M for 2006 and 2.48M. That would put the Benelux at over 2 third of Other Europe.

Great to see how big a gaming industry my home country and it's brothers have, relatively :P ;)
I'm not very patriotic, maar dit is wel erg goed om te weten.

This thread made me laugh.

>'Benelux has sold xxx,xxx PS3s'

-'Where's Benelux?'

>'Benelux stands for Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg'

-'Where's Benelux?'

>'Look here's a bloody map, find it yourself'

-'Where's Benelux? It's not on there'

>'Yes it is'

-'No it's not'

>'Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg are all on there'

-'But Benelux isn't'

>'*sigh*'

-'whatever, come back with a map pointing out Benelux'

Good to see that I'm not the only one who found that amusing.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

The Wii was mentioned in another article on the same website:

Wii 421k
DS 1370k

http://www.lesoirenligne.be/actualite/economie/jeux-video-sony-et-microsoft-2008-05-22-600071.shtml

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

the Netherlands (also know as Holland, it's capital is Amsterdam) is one of the richest countries of the world

''Hadouken!''

@Ajax: Holland is actually only a smart part of Netherlands.

Thanks reverie, the article is from this week too, and includes shipments from Nintendo's latest earnings release, so should be fairly recent. Seeing as the Wii number is to 1k suggests it's probably GfK Benelux data, it's not often they give shipments to that accuracy.

So all consoles are fairly close in Benelux, Wii @ 421k, PS3 @ 300k, and 360 somewhere in between.

@Ajax

It's not even the richest country in Benelux :P.

@kamil

With a name like Ajax I'm sure he knows that, but Netherlands is commonly known as Holland in the UK, even if it is technically incorrect.

@ Machina-AX )

well, kamil is european, so I think he knew what and where Benelux is, but was concerned people from other parts of the world wouldn't find it on the map, so I think your interpretetation of what was said is slightly off in that part

@ Ajax )

and is quite poor compared to Luxembourg :-p
