Forums - Sales - Madden 08 Wii Vs. Madden 08 X360 vs. Madden 08 PS3...discuss

Coming right off the heels of this thread.

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=2745

This game will be a telltale marker on how this generation shapes up.

I feel as I said in the above thread that this would make a great prodiction league question.

This time unlike with 07 the games will all be released at same time.

Wii's Madden is totally different from the other two for obvious reasons and will that draw in new fans to the Madden genre? I must say I for the first time am actually interested in playing a football game since seeing Madden 07. I just wanna test out the controls. I understand the game of american football even though I'm not much into the real life games or videogames. So don't think I don't know the difference between first down, red flag and foul line. First down is football. 6 points a touchdown with the 1 point for the PAT for a total of 7. Field goals = 3 pts. This will be a test for Wii's online as well.

XBox 360's Madden will be big since the console's greatest territory is the USA and NFL is the national sport of american football. Between this and the Wii will I see the greatest debate. Tried and true traditional or newfangled and innovative? XBox 360 will have the graphics edge. The Wii Madden 07 inspired them to add weather effects to Madden 08 in 360's version. And there's the XBox Live factor.

PS3's Madden will also be a test. Can PS3 use this game as a recovering selling advantage displaying the often talked about sheer power it's supposed to possess? Can they with a mostly traditional controller give a unique experience that separates them from XBox 360 and make people want to pony up the 599 US Dollars (echo of Kaz: 599 US Dollars, 599 US Dollars, 599-599-599 US Dollars)?

Somehow I think the Wii and 360 versions will be competitive. XBox 360 will have some network advantages over Wii but Wii's control factor is undeniable. It's all a matter of how Nintendo gets the message through about the greatness of the new control that will show the direction. If they succeed, then Wii be top-selling version. If they don't succeed, XBox 360 will be top-selling version. If Sony somehow succeeds in their aims, miraculously PS3 will be top-selling version. That's the longshot factor.

BUT what about the lingering PS2 version? Will that hamper PS3's ability to make Madden as big on that platform? I think it will and Sony's gonna have to resolve this PS2/PS3 conundrum sooner or later. When PS2 was selling well alongside PS1 it was all good. But PS2 is indeed cutting into PS3's sales potential.

There will an article on Popzart.com about this soon. I just thought of this while sitting here. It'll be more fleshed out there.

Are all 3 being made for the specific console, no ports ? Any real gameplay footage ?

You want to play NFL or any sports title, you want it to look great. If now thats a big if Ea can push the PS3 and 360 power and make truely great looking Madden games, they will leave the wii in the dust as far as sales go.

360-PS3-Wii as sales go.

Hey, good luck speaking for everybody.

I honestly don't care how sports games look. I'd much prefer watching the real thing than playing a football game. But if given the option, I want a football game that's going to keep me engrossed in it, and make me want to pick it up again. Graphics are nice and all, but so what if I can see sweat beading on a guy's forehead? I'll take a game with a unique, good control scheme anyday. Something that makes me feel like I'm shoving a guy out the way to give my running back a hole, or do a little body nudge to get some bump room off of cornerbacks (And perhaps catch a flag in the process if it's too obvious..)  Graphics don't really mean much for sports. You're not trying to tell a story, you're just racking up points.

Not saying I want a football game that looks like ass either, but for a sports game? Gameplay > Graphics.

360 will have the most sales by far.

I think the Wii version will outsell the PS3 version personally, but it's a tough call.

I think PS2 will be outsold by 360 but outsell Wii and PS3

in case that wasn't clear:

360 > PS2 > Wii > PS3

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I dont buy that, who buys these games.  Sports fans and they will most likely choose the one that looks best.

To me NFL games are more strategy then anything else, gameplay is pretty much just running.

If you really wanted to play an american football game like you do in real life wouldn't you just go out and play it? This is the main problem I see with sports games using wii control. If I wanted to play sports I would just go outside and do it. Which is why I think the wii version sales will be fairly the same as madden 07.

Yes

i believe that madden on the wii will bring in a fair amount of new customers. Not a huge amount, but it will bring more in. I, for one, bought Madden 07 and it was the first Madden ive ever bought. I had played a madden game once or twice before while at a mates house, but i never really got into it. However, i found the wii version a totally new take on the game, it was totally different and really fun :P

My sales prediction will be
1.360
2.Wii
3PS3

PS3 will ahve the least sales because with Madden 07 it was basically tied with Wii, and now Wii has a much larger userbase.

Sales are going to be difficult to predict, but the 360 is the easy favorite. Madden 07 sold 1.6m+, and I just don't see either the Wii or PS3 versions getting quite to that level.

Sales should be:

360: 2.1m
PS2: 1.4m
Wii: 1.05m
PS3: 800k

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Madden 07 looked better for 360 and PS3 but it played better on PS2 and X-box. A lot gamers skipped the next gen version because of a severe lack of features. I know after I got Madden 07 for 360, I told all my friends to save $20 and pick up the better and cheaper last gen rendition.

Um people might want to take a look at vgcharts for madden, not a single million seller on GC. Xbox had 2 maddens go + million.

Nintendo console owners have not show much love to sports titles in the past, so the big sales will come from casual gamers ?
