I hope this is the beginning of some game developers trying to mix Movies & Games :)
I really enjoy this idea of play the game like its a movie, with long cut scenes...to me its a leap in gaming. So much attention to detail and depth, amazing
Lets hope the game meets our expections, which are pretty high :D
I hope the game tells you the length of the cutscene, I wouldn't mind watching a 90 minute scene if I'm told in advance... I would just hate to pop the disc in for any game when I only have 30-40 minutes just before a long cutscene.

Why do you complain? This is taking story to the next level, if you dislike story, buy the mindless shooter games, they outnumber games like this by at least 5:1.

I disagree. Bioshock has nowhere near the scope of storyline MGS games have. You cannot integrate story into gameplay, it is impossible because it can only make for a superficial narrative. You can imply certain themes and ideas but not tell an actual word by word story. Nor can you impart a well argued social and political commentary that is so integral to MGS games through gameplay. Bioshock failed miserably when it came to delivering a truly mature storyline. It juggled with some philosophical ideas that the writers tried to raise yet it failed to explore any of them in any meaningful manner, percisely because there was not enough storyline behind it to provide substance.
For real fans of mgs this is probably great news but for your average gamer I think they will probaly hate it. I could be wrong but I honestly think that if cut scenes are this long people will be turned off by it except like I said before the hard core fans that love mgs they will be in heaven.

I agree with you, is kinda insane the ammount of time you spend watching a game without doing anything, but I remember about how some kind of interaction is allowed during some cutscenes... so there is hope... for one side, for the other, if is true, he is narrowing their potential buyers base...

The Metroid Prime games beg to differ. :p
As for the length of these cutscenes, well, I like my cutscenes every now and then, and I certainly don't mind watching them for several minutes, but when they get too long, like, 10 minutes+ish, that's taking it too far, in my opinion. 90 Minutes is just insane. IMHO.

I don't mind. Apparently they are pretty high quality and for sure they can't be just some discussions in a single place. There's definitely some sort of action in those cutscenes. If you're not interested, you can always skip them. You can also pause the cutscenes (that's more than useful in this case).
Well, this is a surprise though. I expected to have much cutscenes but this... At first I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
