MikeB, don't be surprised if the Dragon Quest series, and MAYBE the Kingdom Hearts series, come to the Wii. Final Fantasy should help the PS3 a lot in Japan though, and I'm looking forward to LittleBigPlanet and White Knight Story quite a lot.

Their new game engine makes good use of the Cell's SPEs, so I think we will certainly see their big games on the PS3. Level 5 is gaining good development knowledge on the PS3 as well with the development of the White Knight Story.

Wow the spin gets worse. The ONLY game significantly better looking on PC is Crysis. Great achievement.

Their game engine is highly multi-threaded already, so I expect them being able to push the PS3 hardware in a relatively short amount of time compared to other 3rd party PS3 developers as well. A relevant quote with regard to their future games:

"It is certain. We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis. We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe that’s the core problem of PC Gaming, piracy. The degree that PC Gamers pirate games inherently destroys the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4 to 5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we won't have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusively anymore.”"

I hate the people who say a PC looks better. Of course it's going to look better! A lot of people prefer to play games on this amazing new technology called the television, and also like to have nice looking things on it.

Hopefully they can understand the concept when I phrase it in this manner.

Sony Computer entertainment are surly loosing some money on the PS3 BUT sony as a whole is probably not loosing much or any !
WHY well the Blu-ray drive is probably either manufactured in a Sony factory OR is paying sony and the other Blu-ray patent owners royalties.
So SCE loose money on the PS3 but sony manufacturing or patents are probably making some profit from selling blu-ray drives and discs !. Also some PS3 development costs have allready been absorbed as a loss and the cost of each console comes down as the theoretical development cost is divided by greater sales.
Sony cant really go wrong on this the PS3 will turn a profit for them this year or at least any loss will be absorbed internally.

I believe Sony is losing between $80 and $100 dollars on the PS3 per unit. The rest of it would be marketing and R&D costs. Though of course, those costs have to be spread across the consoles sold as well, but they are far easier to scale than actual hardware and production costs.

Sony is about even with the ps3. they are not losing close to 100 bucks on each system. sony is much father along with price reduction then microsoft. i dont no where you get your info from but its wrong.

It's true production costs have been significantly reduced. But there are additional costs such as for marketing, retailer profit share of the retail price, further R&D (new OS features, free Home, hardware advancements, etc), localizations, localized support and warranty, PSN servers, local taxes, etc. I do think their entertainment division overall will post a healthy profit this year though.

I get disc read error with Brawl sometimes.

All consoles have small hardware issues, however no one can compare the relatively minor Brawl or GTA problems, or any problems with a single game, to the vast epic failure that is RRoD. This is coming from a certified 360 owner, Gamertag Zenfoldor, play 360 all the time, like the console a lot, actually, RRoD still an epic failure.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

it could just be to help build hype they were throwing out names early to get people hooked, which worked b/c for the last year and a half the sony defense force has done nothing but "just wait till x game comes out on x date then sony will be the leader"

maybe all of these "delays" were nothing more then a smoke screen and the games are on the same date they planned to release them from the start

why is everything going to happen in the future for the ps3. that;s all I ever read I mean it was launched november 2006 thats over 18 months ago and yet we still hear about the untapped potential of it.

I mean are the people who designed it not aware of its potential 18 months into its cycle. if I was a sceptic I would be wondering how much of this is just spin I mean you wouldnt expect them to say this thing is actually a demon to make games for.

anyway chances are I will be proved wrong in late 08 early 09 sony have a proven track record in this industry; but there is a little bit of me wondering was it rushed a little bit when the 360 started doing really well in sales.

btw I am a 360 owner just so anybody reading this will know I am gonna be biased in favour of my chosen console.
