Forums - Gaming - FFCC is a gateway drug.

So I'm coming off my high and now I'm taking a look back at what the heck just happened.

 This isn't a review as I'm not looking at what was good or bad just why it was so easy to pick up

and play.

The game only used 3 buttons a menu a ok button and a cancel button.

 I mean heck 1 of the buttons is optional as you can ring the Wiimote to ring the bell in game.

The next thing is you don't micromanage makes the game much simpler - but you still reap the rewards.

Over all why do games like these work >.> What is the formula for addiction O.o whatever it is the game has been

called out on using "element x" in according to other player reviews, for some reason a person like myself who loaths DLC got it for this game anyway. >.>

So in the end does this game represent an often lamented  'bridge game', unlike the obvious attempt with Dragon Quest Swords?

Do you mean the Wii Ware game? The Gamecube game, or the DS game?

@DMeisterJ

I suppose he's talking about the WiiWare game since he mentioned ringing a bell with the Wiimote...

@dib8rman

I must admit I couldn't get what you were trying to say. Can you please explain more?

Got confused as well and I hope FFCC stands for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

It's Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles:  My Life as a King.  Not exactly the shortest title.

wii number: 8166 7045 0170 7783 (don't forget to inform me if you add me)

The addiction formula's actually pretty simple: it makes you want to keep expanding your city, and makes it easy to do so (there's no way to lose, money keeps pouring in, and you can take all the risks you want because no one ever dies). But it makes you go through just enough hoops to expand your place that you don't feel that the whole thing's being handed to you on a silver platter (even though it is).
In the end, I didn't really love playing this game, and yet I found it hard to put down...

It's pretty simple: the days are short enough and the sense of progression just sufficient enough that it's very easy to say to yourself "just one more go" in order to see the results of that progression which, naturally, leads to the end of the next day and you're thinking "just one more go" to see the results of that progression which, naturally, leads to the end of the next day....until it's 5AM.

FFCC:MLaaK made me realize how much I miss Sim City and want a Sim City 5. I guess I could go back to playing Sim City 4. Actually, maybe I will...nothing like taking up untold hours of my busy life...

My consoles and the fates they suffered:

Atari 7800 (Sold), Intellivision (Thrown out), Gameboy (Lost), Super Nintendo (Stolen), Super Nintendo (2nd copy) (Thrown out by mother), Nintendo 64 (Still own), Super Nintendo (3rd copy) (Still own), Wii (Sold)

A more detailed history appears on my profile.

You should give Caesar IV a try if you like city-builders.

I'm sorry I've got the flu so I didn't even know what I mentioned wasn't intelligable.

Basically I'm sure in myself that this game is a prime example of a bridge game for the gamers who are just getting into this hobby.
It has an addiction formula that I believe some of you guys have either hit on the head or missed wholely but the point of the thread:

I wanted to get a concensus of what other concluded about the game; is it truly more of a bridge game than Squares last attempt
with Dragon Quest: Swords.

Both were fun as heck but Swords was not as addiciting nor rewarding as this game.

Yes I am talking about the Wiiware game, which now has me hyped even more for Spore and the FFCC:CB coming out this year.

I'm hooked as well.

The progression concept mirrors that of short chapters in a good book. Just one more chapter = just one more day.
