The addiction formula's actually pretty simple: it makes you want to keep expanding your city, and makes it easy to do so (there's no way to lose, money keeps pouring in, and you can take all the risks you want because no one ever dies). But it makes you go through just enough hoops to expand your place that you don't feel that the whole thing's being handed to you on a silver platter (even though it is).
In the end, I didn't really love playing this game, and yet I found it hard to put down...
