funnily enough, I briefly had a Compaq with very similar specs (maybe same model) I owned it for about a week before I returned it, it kept crapping out on me.
Edit: how do your PC's perform with games?

The laptop runs pretty good for what I do with it. The wireless card is easy to replace. Compaq told me that the some of the v6000 were shipped with faulty cards. When I went to buy the laptop I wanted one with windows vista because I really like it. I really needed a new laptop at the time because my old hp laptop kept overheating and melted the cooling fan I had underneath it. The store only had a few laptops with Vista so I chose this one. I don't do a whole lot. I mainly use my laptop for surfing the internet and as a media server for the ps3.
The laptop does well for the games that I play. I don't play any games that are too demanding. Most of my pc gaming involves Tomb Raider Anniversary, Tomb Raider Legend, and Madden. I prefer madden on pc. Probably would run a little smoother with a little more ram. I'll probably upgrade to 2gb ram soon.
Consoles owned: 80GB PS3 w/bc, PS3 Slim 120gb
PSN: Yubitme
I got mine almost 2 years ago at the cost of about 3 PS3s:
I have a:
Core2Duo 2.2 GHz o.c to 2.93GHz
2GB RAM
2 HDD combined total of 820GB
ATI Radeon x1950PRO 256MB Graphics card
19in LCD Monitor
With that rig I can pretty much play any current game (Crysis at medium) and with asimple exchange of GFX cards for about £120 in 6 month's time I can upgrade it to play all the games for the next 2 years if need be.
PSN ID: T_Gears
End of 2009 ltd sales:
Wii = 67-68m
X360 = 38-39m
PS3 = 34-35m
Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (3.0GHz Clock Speed, 1MB L2 Cache)
ATi Radeon X1950 PRO
2GB DDR2-667
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS AMD64 / Windows Vista x86
Lets see:
- AMD Phenom Quad-core @ 2.66Ghz. (Quad-core @ 2.66 is faster then Dual-core @ 3.00 I believe).
- 3Ghz RAM.
- Nvidia GeForce 8800GT. (Was a 8500GT but upgraded it to 8800GT).
- 750GB HDD (0.75TB HDD)... Not including External 500GB HDD.
Can run games like Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect no problem.
